"My Last Tango" debuted in Madrid at the Cine
Avenida in August of 1960. It was the second time French actor Maurice Ronet partnered with Sara as her leading man. Once
again it was a huge commercial endeavour and left no doubt as to her box office supremacy .
Montiel's sense of humor and timing for
comedy is revealed in this movie. Sadly this aspect of her acting was never exploited with more diligence and in later works.
More importantly this film was the vehicle which allowed Sara to
introduce tangos to her repertoire. These songs sold all over the world cementing the myth and making people think that Sara
could not err when it came to movie making.
